She was murdered in Tumaco on December 24, 2019, when she was finishing teaching a workshop with children in the municipality. According to the governor of Nariño, Camilo Romero, the woman was a cultural promoter of the carnival of Blacks and Whites and a defender of life. She fought for the vindication of women's rights and against sexual violence in her region. The Indoamericanto Cultural Foundation, to which the woman was linked with music and dance workshops for participants of the Black and White Carnival, spoke in this regard: I regret what happened. “Eternity is reserved for people of great works.
